Fashion HistoryFashion in the 1970s was an eclectic mix of style inspired by looks from all around the world. Subcultures began to form like the punk movement, disco scene, and fitness craze. The most popular shoe style during the 1970s was the platform shoe. These reached heights of up to 4 inches heel height. Other popular shoe styles were clogs, plastic shoes and black patent shoes worn with white tights. Pants were generally worn in a high waisted manner and they featured flared legs. By mid decade, the flared legs reached bell bottom proportions and it wasn't until the end of the decade that they became narrow once more. On the other hand, hot pants were popular. Skirts and dresses came in every length imaginable from 60s style mini skirts through to maxi styles. The midriff was often on show with crop tops or tops tied above the belly button and cat suits and halter neck designs were all the go. Jeans which had once been associated with manual work became a fashion item in the 1970s. they were bleached, tie dyed or embroidered for interest. 1970s clothing is often referred to as ethnic. This is because international influences were used to inspire numerous looks. When Farrah Fawcett sported a flicked out hairstyle in the television series Charlie's Angels, women everywhere raced to copy the look. Long hair, center parted and blond streaks also were popular. The "natural look" was all the go in the make up section. Men also wore platform shoes and zippered jumpsuits. Ties were fat and shirt collars and jacket lapels were over sized. Hogwarts Uniform DesignDuring the Marauders' era of education at Hogwarts the uniform [...] consisted of: A plain white buttoned shirt, a house tie (thin stripes) (Red and Gold, Green and Silver, Yellow and Black, or Blue and Bronze) a thick grey knitted v-neck jumper (with a house coloured neckline), grey trousers/pleated skirt, plain black shoes, a grey pocketed blazer with your house's emblem (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw) and a plain black tied robe with your houses emblem on.
